My job title now is Senior Solutions Architect but really I just like helping people do their jobs more easily and with more fun. It was a call to arms and I'm passionate about helping make IT and business better through the use of technology. I like the quote from @mdonovan.nmkac above about making workplaces for humans to be human.

Scott Styles16:01:02

I found the first two thirds really helpful. His discussion on the relationship between technical and organizational change is among the best I've seen. Towards the end, he's focused on the specific problems in his industry. I found that a little too targeted to be useful. The book was recommended multiple times at this year's DOES. You can definitely see the influence in Gene's writing.

Jerreck16:01:43

Hi All, I am the founder and CEO of Testifi. We are DevOps and Automation advocates, we've drunk deeply from the DevOps Kool-aid. So we're 'all in' on this. Looking forward to the exchange and excited to hear people's thoughts and opinions, not just from the authors (awesome as they are) but from the rest of the community too. Keep on being awesome people.

Hello everyone. The Phoenix Project was very positively impactful for me several years ago, so I was excited to see The Unicorn Project released. Looking forward to the discussions. (I wear different hats. Engineering, Architecure, Engineering Management. Work for a company in Boulder, CO. Work remotely, living near Kansas City, KS.)

Erica Unterreiner23:01:51

Hi everyone. I’m in our technology PMO, have read The Phoenix Project and now reading The Unicorn Project. I love the concept and promise of DevOps and its applicability to other disciplines. I’m looking forward to the discussion.

Taylan Ayken23:01:51

Hi everyone! I'm a Search Operations Engineer in Amazon, in the Tokyo office. I read The Phoenix Project and The DevOps Handbook while I was working in my previous company and tried to apply some lessons there. Couldn't succeed so joined Amazon. Finished The Unicorn Project about a week ago but planning to read it again and take notes this time.

Mark Norman23:01:28

Hi! I’m between jobs right now, but most recently was a product manager at a fintech startup called TrueLayer. I’ve been a sysadmin, software engineer, software architect and product manager over the years. A few jobs ago I managed to get a bunch of people to read The Phoenix Project and implement tons of integration tests and infrastructure automation, which worked out really well. Reading TUP is giving me a renewed sense of the importance of helping people improve how they design, develop and deliver software. Looking forward to the discussion!

David Harrity23:01:14

Hi everyone! First time (personal) Slack-er, long-time reader. I am an IT executive at a U.S. federal government agency leading our agency's digital infrastructure technologies office, which I recently re-aligned from a stovepipe-based organizational structure to a agile, devops-centric structure. I've read The Phoenix Project and The DevOps Handbook. And, of course, look forward to reading The Unicorn Project (using hardcover, Audible, and Kindle editions) while engaging with the IT Rev Book Club.

Marjie Carmen23:01:38

Hello! So happy to be here! I've worked at all levels of the org just short of the C-suite and have had the most fun=success in the more senior roles where I have had almost complete autonomy. I'm always looking for more efficient/effective ways to get things done... I've introduced orgs. to Agile/Scrum/common sense process/mind-set and like to figure out how to make chaos less so to achieve goals.. and have fun doing it - whether it's delivering good software, streamlining unnecessary business processes or assembling a band. Started as a software dev moved into SQA then all sorts of other things.. I've read The DevOps Handbook, Phoenix Project, Accelerate, Beyond the Phoenix Project and now on Chapter 7 of the Unicorn Project. I'm currently serving in the role of QA Manager at a company that just went through an acquisition and is a lot like.. the parts unlimited 😉 in some areas. I'm so HAPPY 😁 to be part of this book club as I've taken a huge interest in this DevOps movement/mentality. I'm based in RTP - Raleigh-Durham, NC but worked most of my career in the Greater Boston area.
