Stupid question: Would the Five Ideals have prevented some of the issues Boeing is currently going through (based on what we know from the news)? Is it similar to when Erik talks his study of Paul O’Neill at Alcoa?
Probably very relevant, especially in the lens of the cultural changes which took place with the McDonnell merger looking almost like a reverse Phoenix/Unicorn Project https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/11/how-boeing-lost-its-bearings/602188/
It's also another one of those companies that was a Lean success (Well, Boeing Commercial Airplanes) under an internally grown leader in Alan Mulally, sadly passed over by the parent company The Boeing Company when its CEO were forcibly retired and typical MBA Asset stripping budget sheet focused C team took over destroying a culture built over the better part of a century. Mulally went on to save Ford.
