Bill Palmer would be one of them, to fight the executive battles for such ambitious venture.

Brent - Everyone needs an ops guy willing to go the distance.

The guy from the shop/store or the mechanic. I think he/she might have some great ideas

I'd add Maxine - can't seem to do wrong and she gets the need for customer focus.

Matthew Donovan21:01:27

hmmmmm Derek, Josh, Matt, Kurt, reporting to Bill and Kirsten. Why? I'd of already turned Maxine into a consultant/coach for the whole org from a techie perspective. Bill would help coach Kurt and turn him into a true Lean Manager, Kirsten understands the plumbing of organisation and product, so can help direct resources. Derek & Josh are the future of the company, clearly engaged and interested and with the occasional coaching of the OGs and then Matt (Could replace Matt with Emily) because they know the work. Well this would be my theory if I wanted to grow people. Actually I'd also want Shannon. Security should be there from the start and she's a future leader as well. See I'd have horizon 3 teams made up of the best people from the horizon 1 and 2 teams, a root of development where said best people either move to h3 or to coaching/consulting for the organisation a Digital Transformation Centre of Excellence. But given the early stage of Parts Unlimited transformation I wouldn't want to move their best people into H3 just yet as they have a lot of work to do building people abandoned for decades. Hence picking juniors with potential and a future executive.

Why only four? Continuous experimentation should be a trade throughout the whole company, where ideas are given shape with the minimal amount of effort so they can be evaluated if they can become horizon 2 projects.

Rob Johnson22:01:49

I agree with @US97FDXDW - someone from the store would really help the horizon 3 team have a strong customer focus (5th ideal) but also would have great 'user' insite that the tech members need.

I'm firmly in the "anyone but Brent" camp. He's going to be an ongoing political headache to retain. Especially given the potential duration of the H3 development timeline, his career path is likely to steal him away, if someone else doesn't. I'd pick a senior team member to sponsor, probably Kristen. Then I'd socialize the idea, to find Junior to mid-level resources in the QA and Dev silos who were enthusiastic, similar for someone in the area of the business the product would be impacting. I think this would be my best chance of keeping the H3 product team together and motivated, especially in light of the parts unlimited heritage. Kristen would also be a great ally to have, when it comes time to make the H2 transition.
