Here is a question we've been discussing internally, I'm wondering what others thing about this: You have a WW system divided into multiple geographic regions, each completely separate from the other, each have its own staging environment. Should you be deploying to production in all regions, reducing mean time to deployment or should you be deploying to one region at a time, reducing the blast radius of a possible outage?

I vote for one region at a time.

I'm currently working in an organisation that is at the beginning of their transformation. I already have a team consisting of people from different divisions and we're getting things automated pretty well. Now that we're ready to roll out to UAT and PROD we hit the political wall where our ops folks can't just roll out IaC without explicit approval of their ops management. Looks like even within the ops vertical, trust is something we need to work on. Just a bit frustrating because we're this close to get things done in an automated flow. I need hugs!

Hi there! If you could hire someone who helps with developer productivity. Which skills would you look for in 2020?

I'm doing most of it on the side and it feels like simultaneous chess. Of course I could try to find a mini me, but I guess that is not the best solution.
