We’re creating a “learn to code” community of practice at work that might have a couple dozen folks involved. Plan at the moment is to meetup during lunch once or twice a month for folks to discuss/learn/etc. Probably break up into much smaller groups for a lot of it. Has anyone tried doing this at their organizations? Any advice yal would be willing to offer?

We tried this and went through a pre-set curriculum from Free Code Camp. They’ve got a really robust and solid program. It let us work through things individually and then come together to work through things. Like a book club with practical activities.

Freecodecamp is great. I’d then supplement material once in a while (brown bagging) with topics like (“here’s a tool for frontend” or “use this time on how to improve this piece of code”) Having sessions that are out of the scope of the main course allows people to feel like content is still fresh and interesting.
